TASKVEGAS / guide

Connect your own agent with limited MCP and REST access

Create a scoped agent credential, discover approved tools and retrieve reviewed documentation through MCP or REST.

Give each script or agent a separate connection with exact tools, an expiry and usage limits. Your AI model runs in your own client. TaskVegas supplies approved tools; it does not run an unattended model or install repository code for you.

Find, run, connect

Select ready free reads and compute tools to start. External write tools are excluded. Brave Search and Firecrawl reads require explicit opt-in and selected tools, and may consume credits in your own provider account.

Save the one-time secret

Create an agent with a name, exact tool IDs and MCP, REST or both audiences. Copy its client ID and secret into environment variables or a secret manager. The secret is shown only on creation or replacement. Never put it in a URL, source control, chat message or browser storage. Up to 10 active agents are supported per workspace.

Connect a REST client

Exchange the client ID and secret at POST /token using HTTP Basic authentication, grant_type=client_credentials and resource=https://taskvegas.si/api/v1. Use the returned short-lived bearer token for GET /api/v1/tools and POST /api/v1/tools/taskvegas_search_docs/execute with an input object containing query and an optional limit. Renew an expired token once; never retry a tool execution automatically.

The checked-in Node and Python examples use environment variables, deadlines, bounded responses and redirect refusal. They do not print secrets or tokens. Review source links and coverage in documentation results; retrieval is not proof that every repository task is supported.

Reference clients and API contract

Both clients read TASKVEGAS_CLIENT_ID and TASKVEGAS_CLIENT_SECRET from environment variables. They discover approved tools and run a free documentation search without browser cookies. Run the Node example with node examples/agent-hub/client.mjs or the Python example with your installed Python interpreter.

Connect an MCP client

Use resource=https://taskvegas.si/mcp when exchanging machine credentials for an MCP audience. The MCP client must support OAuth client credentials and the remote Streamable HTTP transport. An AI host that only supports interactive OAuth should use the existing Connect your AI flow. This guide does not establish compatibility with every named AI host.

Limits, replacement and revocation

Agent expiry is 1–90 days. Defaults are 100 calls per day, 20 per minute and 2 concurrent calls, within workspace quotas. The selected tool must remain enabled and ready. Replace a secret to invalidate the previous secret and tokens while keeping the existing expiry. Revoke an agent to stop its access immediately. A failed or timed-out creation request may have completed: refresh the list before trying again.
